In a championship as competitive as the NTT IndyCar Series, becoming a 5-time champion is the mark of a true racing icon. By doing so Scott Dixon – the New Zealander who moved halfway around the world to pursue his racing dream – has secured a place amongst the greats of American open-wheel racing.
Now considered alongside the likes of Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt, Dixon is one championship short of matching ‘Super Tex’s all-time record of 6 series titles. Despite an Indianapolis 500 victory under his belt and 43 career race wins, Dixon shows no signs of slowing down as he bids for yet another title and a second win at the Brickyard this May.
Our friends at Mobil 1 The Grid caught up with the Chip Ganassi racer to talk about his career to date, the drive to win that illusive second Indy 500 and matching the all-time greats of IndyCar.
