Charlie Kimball believes Carlin Racing’s mid-season momentum can continue at this weekend’s KOHLER Grand Prix at Road America. Following back-to-back top 10 finishes in Detroit and Texas, the Californian is more than satisfied with the progress of the team in their debut season.
“We had a couple of good results earlier this month, and I’m feeling really confident in how this Carlin team is progressing in its maiden Verizon IndyCar Series season”, remarked Kimball ahead of round 10 of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series.
Kimball: top-10 finishes starting to be a ‘habit’
Kimball posted 8th and 10th place finishes at Detroit and Texas respectively, with teammate Max Chilton 11th and 12th. Kimball’s 8th place in race two of the Detroit Grand Prix represented Carlin’s best finish in IndyCar to date.

Following a rocky start to the season as the team struggled to understand IndyCar’s 2018 aerokit, Kimball and Carlin are enjoying an upturn in form. “It feels like these top-10 finishes are starting to be a habit and we’ll just keep moving forward from here”, remarked Kimball, who currently sits 17th in the IndyCar point standings.
Kimball confident Carlin will be racing at the front
That momentum combined with Kimball’s track record at Road America gives the 33-year-old confidence heading into the race weekend: ” I’ve come away with a couple of top-10s here since IndyCar’s return to the track, and I have full faith in the No. 23 Tresiba Chevrolet team that we’ll be racing up front on Sunday.”
