Giant killers: Coyne, Bourdais and Jones talk IndyCar success
An epic start to this year’s Verizon IndyCar series by Dale Coyne Racing will undoubtedly be one of the main talking points of the 2017 season.
Dale Coyne Racing: taking the IndyCar fight to the big boys
Sebastien Bourdais’ frightening accident during qualifying for the Indy 500 ended what had been a stellar start to the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series for Dale Coyne Racing. Having won the season opener at St Petersburg, the Frenchman followed up with strong performances at Long Beach and the Grand Prix of Alabama.
Rookie Ed Jones made good on DCR’s early promise at the Brickyard to take a stunning 3rd place finish in the 2017 Indy 500. The British driver has since continued to notch up impressive performances to lead the rookie of the year standings comfortably. Dale Coyne secured something of a mid-season coup by signing ex-F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez to deputise for the recovering Bourdais.
The team at Mobil 1 The Grid caught up with Jones, Bourdais and Dale Coyne to discuss the team’s role as giant killers and over achieving under dogs. Plus their hopes for the remainder of the 2017 IndyCar season and beyond.
