Trading paint: Stewart-Haas Racing On The Team’s Switch To Ford For 2017
When Stewart-Haas Racing decided to switch from Chevrolet to Ford during the NASCAR off-season, the team entered a race just to make it to the start line at Daytona. Despite building chassis in-house and running a completely new car, SHR won the ‘Superbowl of motor racing’ with Kurt Busch – the Daytona 500. Thanks to our friends at Mobil 1 The Grid we take a look behind-the-scenes at how SHR and Ford raced to vctiory lane at the 500.
Including interviews with team co-owner Tony Stewart, Cup champions Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick plus Doug Yates of Ford engine builder Roush Yates, we look at the teamwork and dedication that made the switch such a success. Despite the ‘stock’ nature of NASCAR, joining the ranks of Ford Performance teams for 2017 was not just a case of switching decals on the SHR machines.
